Is the news coming out today is true, 19-year-old actress Zendaya’s role has finally been revealed for Spider-Man: Homecoming; Mary Jane Watson! We have known the former Disney star has been involved in the film for some time now, but her role has been a mystery, until now.
Rumors flew freely on the internet since her casting January, with many people thinking she would be playing a high school friend of Peter Parker. Still, there were a few people who thought/hoped she would be playing Parker’s Iconic love interest, Mary Jane.
This is a departure from the traditional interpretation of Mary Jane who sports bright red hair and is white in the comics, but this new take sounds fun and really helps separate this new Spider-Man from all past incarnations, both comic and film.
Twitter is abuzz with the news, with most people being thrilled with the new direction from lot’s of different people.

Still, as you would expect there are a lot of people angry because a fictional supporting comic book character is ‘breaking the mold’ of who Mary Jane is. That being said there were just as many people poking fun at those mad about the news too.
