YouTube Terminates Accounts for Promoting Twitch Streams

Sure to endear them to customers.

Well, it seems YouTupe has taken the next shot in their long-standing war with Twitch. Because they actually terminated the accounts of several YouTubers for promoting Twitch streams. Linus Tech Tips, Surny, Aztrosist? All had their accounts terminated… well, temporarily.

Also, just figure you should see this to see what you’re missing vis a vis Aztrosist.

To be fair, the whole thing seems to be a bit of a warning shot. it’s actually been a part of YouTube’s rules for a while to not post content that drives users away from Youtube. It’s just actually enforcing that in a different way now. And even more confusing, rather than address outlets directly, it sent them to a series of Twitter posts that… kinda contradict what’s been happening.

Honestly, I have no clue what they thought people were going to take away from this. Other than to make extra sure to back up everything, because there’s no telling when the table will be flipped. Honestly, if this keeps going on, I wouldn’t be surprised to see an exodus. Or, maybe, it’s just stupidly overzealous bots on YouTube that flagged shit for deletion. Who knows? They sure won’t tell us.
