Coincidentally, it’ll also work for Android and PC.
NVIDIA made it possible to play Fortnite on iOS via GeForce Now. And, no slouches themselves, Microsoft is following suit. Only they’re going one higher; you’ll be able to play Fortnite via browser on any iOS device, as well as anything else with a functioning browser, for free. All you’ll need is a Microsoft account in one of the 26 streaming-capable countries, log in to Xbox Cloud Gaming, and you’re good to go.
It also supports both controllers and touch. And you can play the free version of Fortnite right out of the gate, though you’ll have to pay to get the Save The World campaign. Coincidentally, Microsoft has said they’re looking into bringing other Free-to-Play titles to their cloud platform.
And if you see the shrewd business decision in this, it’s likely no mistake. This will bring user numbers for their service up by a considerable amount, no doubt. It’s also a way of spiting Apple; Microsoft backed the Epic Games camp in the ongoing legal battle between Apple and Epic.
