Prepare for some high quality mp3’s.
Back in the day, when your mp3’s were of the highest quality and probably had incorrect song titles, Winamp was king. And while it never really went away, it hasn’t exactly been the standard player everyone uses. But its parent company, Radionomy, has plans to hopefully make that change. Via TechCrunch, they plan to roll everything-music, podcasts, streaming radio stations-into a one stop shop of an app. And it all starts next year, 2019.
There’s really very little out there about the new version of Winamp, though. The Desktop version will get a makeover, for one. The player will also get an app for both Android and iOS. Finally, Winamp will be getting its first update since 2013; version 5.8. That comes this month, on October 18th, to whet your appetite for whatever they’re cooking up next year.
And that’s about it; everything else is under wraps. As to how they plan to integrate the player with all these other app, in a fashion Radionomy CEO Alexandre Saboundjian describes as an aggregator, is unknown. Or whether the player keeps its trademark customization. But I suppose you’ll just have to wait and see how you’ll be whipping the llama’s ass in the future.
