Wells Fargo bans all staff from downloading TikTok

TikTok is under attack from all angles thanks to its connection to the Chinese government and several American companies are beginning to push back against the app. For those that aren’t aware, TikTok is an app that lets users dance to music and rich children to becomes millionaires without parental supervision.

We’ve written before about how the app tracks a lot of information from users and how TikTok was not only caught pulling data from kids but it was also reveled that the app makes it harder for people they deem ugly to find traction on the app.

Wells Fargo issued a statement and told all employees to remove the app from corporate devices immediately over privacy practices. The fear is that TikTok may be used to track and gather sensitive information on interests in the United States.

“We have identified a small number of Wells Fargo employees with corporate-owned devices who had installed the TikTok application on their device. Due to concerns about TikTok’s privacy and security controls and practices, and because corporate-owned devices should be used for company business only, we have directed those employees to remove the app from their devices.”

Other reports have surfaced that showed other major companies are looking into also banning the app from company devices. A report earlier in the month hinted that Amazon was also banning the app before the company denied the move.

The concern that U.S. authorities have is that Bytedance, TikTok’s parent company, will be forced or pushed to share the data it collects with the Chinese government under the country’s laws./
