You read that right ladies and gentlemen, Walmart is now offering the iPhone 5c line of uniquely colored phones for less than $1. Sure, that may in fact be an amazing deal for all those that have been clamoring for an iPhone of their own, but it does come with a catch (these things always do).
Walmart is selling the iPhone 5c for $0.97, but it will require you to sign up for a two-year contract with a carrier. You’ll have the choice of Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, or U.S. Cellular depending on your given area.
It’s not a bad deal, but you may think twice as Apple is set to release their next iPhone in the very near future. Getting locked into a two-year contract is a long time in today’s age of smartphones. Odds are the iPhone 7 will be out before your contract is even up making your 5c a dinosaur.
An unlocked 5c directly from Apple will run you $549, which is still quite pricey, but with Apple launching a new line of iPhone’s you can expect that price to be slashed in the near future.
