Tacklin’ a river.
Walmart has been battling against Amazon Prime with its service, Walmart+. The one benefit it didn’t have, of course, was an attached streaming service. And now it does.
Walmart has struck a deal to have Paramount+ included with membership for Walmart+. Starting in September this year, all Walmart+ members will get a Paramount+ Essential subscription for free. And the good news for these people, is that their membership price will remain the same; $12.95 monthly/$98 yearly with free delivery on orders over $35.
Paramount+ Essential is the service’s lowest-tier plan, normally costing $5 a month with “limited commercial interruptions”. Despite that, you still get the same great shows, such as The Offer the new Beavis and Butthead, as well as movies like Jackass Forever and the Sonic the Hedgehog movies, as well as an extensive catalog of classic shows and films. Also Kurtzman-Trek is there.
According to The Wall Street Journal earlier this month, Walmart was in talks with both Disney and Paramount to potentially bring one of their streaming services to Walmart+ members. Walmart and Paramount have agreed to a two-year deal to exactly that aim. The first year is an exclusive agreement between them, though that could change going into year two.
