Vixen Episode 4

Things pick up right where they left off: Mari running from The Flash and The Arrow. We finally get to see the entire scene that the series started on before it decided to go for flashbacks in flashbacks. There’s even some lively banter between Barry and Oliver. This all ends when she slides off the edge of the building, just as she did in the first episode. Barry runs to help her, but…

Mari is about to escape when they manage to convince her to talk with them. Barry explains that he thinks she’s a Metahuman (explaining what one is as he does so), Mari tells him that she wasn’t even in Central City when the accelerator exploded, and Oliver confirms with Felicity Smoak that, yes, she wasn’t in Central City during the explosion. After Mari flies away, Barry points out that usually, these situations involve him getting punched once or twice.

"I have to go now. My planet needs me."
“I have to go now. My planet needs me.”

Mari decides that it’s a really good idea to go back and see Dr. Macalester. You know, even though he didn’t really help her before. He’s incredulous when she makes her claim that the totem isn’t just some trinket. That is, until she whips out the neat little chameleon trick she used earlier in the uncut chase scene that this episode starts on. He, however, laments the fact that she came to him, just before the villainess bursts through the door. She demands the totem, or else she’ll have to employ direct means to take it from her. In other words, have her two gun-wielding bodyguards shoot her.

"I tried to do this another way, Mari; a more subtle way. On second thought, I always use the same plan. It's actually not that subtle at all, in retrospect."

Final Thoughts:

–  Oliver cannot meet the incredibly low demands necessary to keep a fern alive. Also, sometimes his mouth looks weird.
–  Mari didn’t fail her city, but she sure as hell didn’t help its crumbling infrastructure.
–  What do you want to bet that Mari could just channel an animal that is highly resistant to standard handgun rounds?
