Valve’s rumored portable device has finally been revealed to the world. Meet the Steam Deck.

The Steam Deck is built to allow you to take your Steam library on the go. And to that end, you have all of the controls you’d expect from a modern gaming device; dual sticks, d-pad, face and shoulder buttons, trigger buttons. It also comes with two touch pads on either side. But that’s the obvious.

What’s under the hood is the important part here. The Steam Deck is capable of running “the latest games” according to Valve. And based on the tech specs, that’s definitely the case, as all three storage models feature specs that put laptops and off-the-rack gaming PCs at its starting price point to shame.

It has a dock, making it so that you can manage AV out If you’d prefer

It’ll also run third party software in addition to anything in your Steam Library. So if, say, you dumped some of your legal backups of games you own, you could probably run the emulation software necessary to run them better than their original platform. And since all storage models support external storage via micro SD, setting up such things wouldn’t be too hard.

As stated above, the Steam deck comes in three internal storage sizes: 64GB eMMC ($399), 256GB NVMe SSD ($529), and 512GB NVMe SSD ($649). Reservations for the Steam Deck open Friday July 16th, 10am PDT, with a prospective release in December of this year.
