Unreleased Warcraft Adventures: Lord of the Clans Gets Fan Remaster

Warcraft Adventures: Lord of the Clans

Happy Halloween ladies!

You might remember, years ago, how the unfinished point-and-click adventure game Warcraft Adventures: Lord of the Clans leaked online. It was very nearly finished before it got canned; while the leaked version was playable, its video content, though cutting edge for the late 90’s, sometimes had audio desynch, and some cutscenes were broken completely, and all of them look kind of Kentucky Fried, because compression was necessary at the time.

But one fan, undeterred, decided to take on the task of bringing those cutscenes up to snuff. Thanks to the efforts of DerSilver83 over the course of the past 6 years, the game is now playable the way God intended. The cutscenes, which had some heavy artifacting, were cleaned up, with some needing completely redrawn frames, and the synching issues are all fixed. There were even two broken cutscenes, that have now been properly added to the game. Missing voice lines were replicated using a text-to-speech program. And some of the missing assets and frames were redrawn.

According to DerSilver83, the work is done and he’s happy with it.

It has finally arrived. After 2 years the next and final version has been released. Version 1.0 is a turning point for me. I have been working on it for the last 6 years and in that time I have done almost all I can do within a reasonable timeframe to complete and enhance the cutscenes. For me the game is very much enjoyable now and I see no real use in enhancing the cutscenes any further. I want to remember this project as something fun before it transforms into some kind of a burden. So this is it. The final release of my Cutscenes Remaster Project and I hope everybody who uses it can enjoy it as much as I do. I always wanted to create a substantial mod for a game I love and I can finally say that I have achieved (or at least tried) that.

So, good news, bad news. The good news is that you can download the mod for the game here. The bad news is, you’ll have to have the original leaked version of the game to put them to use. And that’s a problem, because Blizzard DMCA’d them off the internet back when that leak happened. And, as we all know there’s no way around a DMCA. Why, you definitely couldn’t Google “warcraft adventures lord of the clans” and reasonably expect to find some sort of, archive, of an internet variety, hosting those files. And even if you could, we’re all good little boys and girls that don’t engage in such things as that.
