True Detective director signs on to WWII spy drama

Cary Fukunaga is one of the most exciting directors working today. Besides the mic drop that was True Detective, which he directed the entirety of, he’s also set to direct the two-part adaptation of Stephen King’s It, and he’s one of the few directors I can think of who wouldn’t screw it up (along with, say, Mark Romanek and Duncan Jones).

Now Fukunaga has signed on to direct Noble Assassin, which isn’t a game you’d download on STEAM, even though that’s exactly what it sounds like. According to Vulture:

the film will tell the story of a French aristocrat during WWII, who secretly trains under British Special Operations Executive with the intention of returning to his home country and leading a resistance.

Noble Assassin is written by The Fighter‘s Scott Silver, who also wrote 8 Mile. If the guy can write a story so compelling that even Eminem can pull it off, I’m on board.
