Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 day 1 patch is bigger than the game itself!

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 clocks in size wise at 4.6GB. That’s a pretty small size for a major release, especially with AAA games easily hitting 20 plus gigs on a regular basis. Still, if the game works well enough size isn’t an issue. The problem with Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 is that there were a number of issues -enough that the team released a day 1 patch that trumped the base game in size.

The patch comes in at a whooping 7.7GB! Not sure what on earth required that much work, but whatever the case was, this patch must have addressed some serious under the hood issues. Hell, it almost looks as if the team just forgot to add in half of the game when it went gold.

Speculation is rampant, but we don’t know much as the game wasn’t sent out to press outlets, with us here at GAMbIT only just a few hours ago getting an email about requesting a key for review. It’s a shame because the Tony Hawk series was such an amazing set of games in the early days of the PS1. Heck the first three installments are within arms reach on the shelf above where I write.

After courting controversy over the graphics change for Pro Skater 5, with many still having a bad taste still lingering in their mouths after the whole RIDE thing, and with people reporting all sorts of glitches already, we can only hope Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 manages to be a decent game after this patch.
