The Tony Hawk series has been relatively quiet over the past few years after that whole “let’s ass a needless peripheral” thing that Tony Hawk Ride tried pulling. Sure, my buddy swears by the Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD game that dropped a while back, but while good, it wasn’t a new entry into the series. That’s all about to change because Robomodo, the studio behind Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD and Ride, (Ugh…) is back in the driver’s seat to bring us Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5.
This new entry is going back to the original games classic numbering system and hopefully the kind of quality that those games brought fans. But this isn’t going to be your standard Tony Hawk game, as the developers are bringing along a few new tricks this time around. With this new game players will be able to build and share their own skate parks as well as having the ability for some online co-op fun. That all sounds fantastic and we can’t wait, but one new feature has us scratching our heads.
We have learned from Game Informer that Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 will also be introducing “power-ups” for specific missions during gameplay. You’ll also have “the ability to shoot projectiles for specific mission.” Okay, so maybe it’s not what I’m thinking after playing far too much Mario Kart this year, but we shall see how this new mechanic is implemented when the game drops.
