Tons Of Games Abandon Evo 2020 After Abuse Allegations Against CEO

Games Abandon Evo

It’s starting to look like no games want anything to do with the Evo 2020 gaming event following sexual misconduct allegations were raised against organization co-founder and CEO, Joey “Mr. Wizard” Cuellar.

Mortal Kombat 11 and Street Fighter V are the latest games to announce their departure from the event in light of the recent allegations. The My Little Pony-inspired Them’s Fightin’ Herds has also announced they would not be taking part in Evo 2020.

If those departures weren’t bad enough, Bandai Namco released a statement saying they are pulling out of the event meaning a loss of major fighters including Dragon Ball FighterZ, Tekken 7, and Soulcalibur VI won’t be showing up.

The company released their own statement saying that they stand in solidarity with the individuals who have spoken out against abuse in the fighting game community.

For their part, the Evo organization has placed its CEO on administrative leave over the allegations of past sexual misconduct. The announcement came only hours after the Evo CEO was accused of repeatedly preying on teenage boys

Alongside the exodus of games, several high-profile members of the fighting game community announced through their social channels that they would not be taking part in the competition.
