TNA Impact Recap 2/27

IMPACT OPENING:
We start off the show with the classic guy explaining to us what happened in last weeks episode on TNA Impact Wrestling or better yet, just TNA. We’re on the road to Lethal Lockdown, and the team of MVP & Dixieland are getting more ruthless every week. Dixie Carter went as far to give ten percent ownership to Bobby Roode. Gunner is on the hunt for James Strom after he cost him his title shot for the TNA World Heavy Weight Title. And tonight will be the night where they finally induct Kurt Angle to the TNA Hall of Fame (freaking joke).

TNA is in London this week, which is a good choice for them for that fact they’re better known outside of the US. MVP comes out to a massive crowd with a clipboard in hand, I have to say, his theme song is not that bad. He comes out promising  Gunner for his title shot after he wins ownership from Dixie and also made sure that Samoa Joe will be having a title shot against Magnus. He introduces Samoa Joe to the crowd, and BAH GAWD! The crowd goes wild. He also introduces Magnus to the crowd, and has a massive heel welcoming in his hometown. Magnus opens up his promo, very well done, but also make him look like a baby rich boy heel with the reference of him taking Joe down likes an animal. Joe wasn’t going to have it, so after signing his part of the Contract given by MVP he went on raising hell and beating the crap out of Magnus, while MVP yelling out “Save it for the Cage Joe!” It was a pleasant surprise seeing this contract signing because there wasn’t anything fancy about it. No fancy chairs, tables or microphone just to sign a piece of paper. And it’s now official that in Lethal Lockdown, we will have Samoa Joe against Magnus for the TNA World Heavy Weight Title inside a steel cage in a submission match. This whole segment went by very well, even though MVP botched for a quick second (Submit or Tap or KO?) it didn’t change the fact of how great this contract signing was without being so damn fancy, just quick and right to the point.
Matches:

Bad Influence vs The Bromans vs The Wolves

For a tag team triple threat match, this was short and sweet. Man, it’s so awesome to see The Wolves doing their thing; and I have to say congrats for them winning the tag team titles. Nothing like seeing an Indy superstar winning the big one. As for the match, both The Wolves and Bad Influence were leading it the whole time. While, Bromans were just in the background getting a quick in-and-out tag. The Wolves laid down some great double team moves along with Bad Influence. Enjoyed watching Daniels mocking Bromans, asking for a tag before Eddie swung by to attack him, not to mention Eddie’s backpack stunner off the ropes. It does suck that the Guidos won by taking out Eddie and pinning Kaz, but it was still an exciting opening match and now The Bromans will be apart of team Dixie along with Bobby Roode in Lethal Lockdown.

Winner: The Bromans

Rating: 3 out of 5

Ethan Carter III vs Doug Williams

What can I say about EC3 matches? Beside a majority of them being crap. I’m not sure how popular this Doug Williams wrestler is in England, but the crowd was going for him 110 percent of the way. That is until EC3 gave him a very Ric Flair style low blow and gave him a 1 percent to pick up the win.

**PUT EC3 IN REAL MATCHES, LOVE THE THEME**

Winner: Ethan Carter III

**Promo: James Strom & Gunner **

After the screw job finish last week on Impact, James Strom comes out and calls out Gunner saying he doesn’t run from  anyone. Gunner comes out, doesn’t want to hear it, but James Strom hustles him to listen to him. Strom stated, that Gunner uses him and if it wasn’t for him, Gunner would be a nobody. Gunner responds was simple, he earned it, along with mentioning his military background. Strom went on, “No one cares” and from that statement alone, Gunner attack Storm. Storm bails out before things got even uglier.
Samoa Joe vs Bad Bones

Magnus comes out with this Terry Saturn look a like, all he was missing was Moppy (RIP Moppy) and calls him Bad Bones from Germany. Joe comes out and hits the Muscle Buster then makes him tap out to the Coqunia Clutch; simple and easy match.

** Kurt Angle Induction To TNA Hall of Fame **

Jeremy Borash starts off the induction with a very well done video package focusing on Kurt’s highlights in his years with TNA. When Kurt comes out to receive his Hall of Fame Rolex, theres a massive pop from the crowd (seriously TNA, you should think about moving to England). Kurt gets on the mic and thanks his family and his friends and even God for getting him trough those tough hours (DWI, Rehab, you know). After an emotional short speech (saving his real speech for WWE Hall of Fame), we hear the theme of Ethan Carter III.

Ethan Carter III comes out and makes false statements about Kurt tearing both his ACL and MCL, due to him. Though, EC3 has the same baby heel gimmick as Magnus, something about EC3 just seemed way better. The way he talks and act around other wrestlers just make him look ten times cockier, not to mention his video showing him beating up Kurt was hilarious. It’s just sad he’s been getting very shitty matches until now. Thanks to Kurt were going to have a Steel Cage match with him against EC3 at Lock Down.

Madison Rayne & Velvet Sky vs Lei’D Tapa & Alpha Female

If you know me, you know I have special place in my heart for women wrestlers. I truly do believe that the TNA women are better than the WWE women at this point in time. Yes, many would mention the women wrestlers on NXT, but until they make it to the main card thats another story. Either way, this match wasn’t as exciting of a wrestling match, but it was entertaining. Although it was short, with the winner of Lei’D Tapa & Alpha Female, with Lei’D Tapa laying the Death Valley Driver for the win. Velvet attacks Sabin, that’s right Chris Sabin, and Gail Kim (Hottie) were both at ringside. Alpha tries to get her hands on her before ODB makes the save and takes out Tapa, while Sabin and Alpha runs out.

One thing I can say is, the story-line in the women division in TNA is way better then WWE.

Winner: Lei’D Tapa & Alpha Female

**Promo: Samuel Shaw & Mr. Anderson **

Samuel Shaw is cheap knock off of Dexter … like, come on TNA.

Samuel comes out saying how he’s protecting Christy Hemme and Mr. Anderson comes out saying that he is losing it and that Christy is just not that interested in him. Samuel then choke him out and lays Mr. Anderson in the middle of the ring. I did enjoy this small promo, but I just can’t take the fact of how Samuel is so much like Dexter.

MVP vs Bobby Roode ** Match Of The Night**

Austin Aries come outs, with the funniest outfit, as the Special Guest Referee just to prove that he does have respect for MVP (Yea Right!). Both MVP and Roode were great, just giving us a tease of what will happen in Lock Down. The match really was just a tease, a good one, and I have to say that it kept me on the edge of my seat. Watching MVP’s moves,he’s still a bit rusty but can still mange, I was yelling and off my chair when he did his balling move.

The Ending of the match was what everyone expected, but for some reason Austin wasn’t really selling it. When MVP starts to back up a for a thrust kick, Aries comes out of no where and elbows him so Roode ca hit his Roode Bomb for the win.

Winner: Bobby Roode

Rate: 3.25 out of 5
