The Smach Zero portable Steam Machine console is coming in 2016

Smach Zero

Do you remember last year when we talked about the coming of that handheld SteamOS console? No, well neither can we, because as the months and months progressed it all began to look more and more like vaporware. Low and behold the Steamboy lives…err, the Smach Zero lives. The original name was alright, so I have no idea why they decided to change it to whatever the hell a Smach is.

Specs for this mighty little system look pretty good with 4GB RAM, 32GB internal storage, a 720p touch screen and HDMI output. Being that it’s a Steam OS system, that should mean that all games would be technically playable, but the company has stated that it will currently support 1000+ games.

The unit will be going on sale in Quarter 4 of 2016 at an estimated price point of $299 in North America. That price won’t last forever it seems, so if you want to snag a unit for that pretty darn low price you’ll have to pre-order a unit by November 10th.

You can check out the video teaser below that looks like it was created in 30 minutes by a high-school freshman on his first day of video production class. Hell, they don’t even show the unit in the thing, and while I’m quite interested, I sure as hell am not throwing down $300 for some words on the screen. You can find them online at their very empty website www.smachzero.com
