The classic Reader Rabbit returns with Reader Rabbit: Jumpsmarter on Mac

Games4Kids Sverige AB (must be fun to put on a business card) has announced that Reader Rabbit: Jumpsmarter is now available on the Mac App Store (following a successful launch on the Apple TV earlier in September).

Continuing the beloved 80s franchise, Reader Rabbit: Jumpsmarter includes everything that makes a great retro platformer:

  • An exciting mix of playful levels and retro-styled visuals!
  • Run, jump, and throw as you make giant leaps through gorgeous worlds!
  • Encounter spiky hedgehogs, the Big Bad Wolf, guardian chestnuts, and more!
  • Pay once, play forever! No ads or in-app purchases.
  • Supports any (MFi) game controller licensed by Apple.

Reader Rabbit has entertained children around the world since 1983 (myself included) so it’s nice to see the series still around, even if it’s only on the Mac which isn’t really known for great gaming content.

That said, the game looks really cute and seems perfectly geared toward kids. It just feels strange to really limit your audience when the PC could just more kid-friendly games like this.
