Tra-la-la, la-la-la AHHHHHHHH!
Well, it seems Warner Bros and Syfy are bringing back The Banana Splits, in an unexpected way. Because the characters are being brought back in a horror movie, in a move inspired by the success of Five Nights at Freddy’s. Yes, seriously.
The premise, according to Deadline:
In the upcoming horror thriller, a boy named Harley and his family (brother Austin, mother Beth, and father Mitch) attend a taping of The Banana Splits TV show, which is supposed to be a fun-filled birthday for young Harley and business as usual for Rebecca, the producer of the series. But things take an unexpected turn — and the body count quickly rises. Can Harley, his mom and their new pals safely escape?
The film is set to star Dani Kind, Finlay Wojtak-Hissong, Romeo Carere, Steve Lund, and Sarah Canning. It’ll be directed by Danishka Esterhazy, with a script by Jed Elinoff & Scott Thomas.
I just don’t know about it, though. I mean, The Banana Splits are near milk toast on the list of terrifying things. What’s next? Bringing back The Hair Bears as gay icons?
Eh, close enough.
