Okay, I’m gonna go ahead and say that I’m excited for Terminator: Genesis. Sure, it might be a cash grab, but it’s a cash grab directed by Alan Taylor (a veteran of Deadwood, Mad Men, and Game of Thrones), from a script by Laeta Kalogridis (Shutter Island) and Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry), so at least it has the potential to be batshit insane.
The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed a few additions to the cast that already includes Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jai Courtney, Emilia Clarke, and Jason Clarke. They’ll be joined by Michael Gladis (Paul Kinsey from Mad Men), Byung-hun Kim (Storm Shadow in both G.I. Joe movies, and the star of an awesomely fucked up Korean revenge thriller called I Saw the Devil), and Sandrine Holt (Gillian Cole from House of Cards).
Oh, there’s also this tidbit from Ain’t it Cool:
…the film that will ambitiously try to tie all of the Terminator timelines together.
That sounds amazingly misguided. But I’m excited nonetheless, because the last Terminator film we got was directed by an adult who calls himself McG and managed to take a simple concept like “Christian Bale as John Connor” and fuck it up.
