Peter Pan is such a weird property. It seems like every few years a new iteration on the creepy man-boy who steels kids in the night comes about, only to fail spectacularly. There have even been films about the person behind Peter Pan for some reason.
The two most memorable versions of the character have to be the Disney animated classic and the live-action Hook which saw an old Peter Pan come back to Neverland. The first is magical while the latter is simply okay. But now we are getting another version of Petter Pan, only this time it’s going to be dark and gritty.
Syfy calls the upcoming project The League of Pan “a thrilling and mysterious continuation of the beloved story of Peter Pan.” Who knows what that means but all I imagine is an old man pretending to be Peter Pan and stealing kids to murder. That’s actually a great idea for a horror film! Nobody take my totally original idea unless you want to pay me to write it for you.
The description of the series reads as follows:
“The League of Pan picks up with the fabled characters after ten years on the mainland. Now grown up and estranged, Wendy Darling and The Lost Boys must return to Neverland to face a new evil that threatens the very existence of the magical place they once called home, reigniting bitter rivalries and unearthing twisted secrets from their past. The fantastical series explores the painful truths of growing up and the realization that ‘going home’ is never quite as simple as you think.”
Sounds like the theme for Hook only reversed in some respect. It could be an interesting take, but I don’t know how big the Peter Pan audience is on SyFy. Tune into The League of Pan weekly right after Mega Iguana vs Sentient Pile of Shit. And stay tuned after for Aztec Rex!
Fun FAct: Aztec Rex is an actual thing shown and produced by SyFy.
