Switch Online: NES Games Can Be Played Offline For Up To 7 Days

Switch

That’s… actually pretty good.

While people keep melting down over Nintendo’s $20 online service, some good news is coming at least. For one, the NES games that come with subscription will actually not require a constant internet connection (even if they do require a continuous subscription). From Nintendo’s FAQ for the Switch:

Can NES – Nintendo Switch Online games be played offline?

Yes, these games can be played offline for up to 7 days as long as you have an active Nintendo Switch Online membership.

It might not seem like it, but 7 days is a fair amount of time, even if you wont necessarily have internet access for a while. Which means that you’ll definitely be able to enjoy some of the NES’s finest on your Switch even while in transit.

As for what the service launches with:

  • Soccer
  • Tennis
  • Donkey Kong™
  • Mario Bros.™
  • Super Mario Bros.™
  • Balloon Fight™
  • Ice Climber™
  • Dr. Mario™
  • The Legend of Zelda™
  • Super Mario Bros.™ 3
  • Double Dragon
  • River City Ransom
  • Ghosts’n Goblins™
  • Tecmo Bowl
  • Gradius
  • Pro Wrestling
  • Excitebike™
  • Yoshi™
  • Ice Hockey
  • Baseball

Also, each month, they’ll be adding 3 more games to the service.

October 2018

  • Solomon’s Key
  • NES™ Open Tournament Golf
  • Super Dodge Ball

November 2018

  • Metroid™
  • Mighty Bomb Jack
  • TwinBee
READ:  Half-Life: C.A.G.E.D. is locked, loaded, and available now on Steam

December 2018

  • Wario’s Woods™
  • Ninja Gaiden
  • ADVENTURES OF LOLO

And there will be more in the future. Possibly, even Super Nintendo games. Honestly, for $20, that’s a pretty decent bonus in addition to other services.
