Oh, hey, it’s that Steven Universe episode that was leaked months ago. Smooth moves, Cartoon Network. It probably would’ve been smarter to really get on it, but there’s still a twist so whatever.
Anyway, things once again pick up right where they left off. Lapis refuses to share a space with Peridot; understandable, as Peridot was one of her jailers. Nonetheless, she can’t stand her. Even Steven’s TV influenced solution of dividing the barn down the middle with a line fails to impress. This distresses Peridot, since she really wants Lapis to accept her.
Steven won’t give up, however, and keeps trying to come up with ways for Lapis to understand how Peridot’s changed (her mention of her dissing Yellow Diamond didn’t do it, so I don’t know what will). The card Steven helps her make is botched by her being too literal and blunt with the inscription. Since she knows Lapis’ are fond of water, they convert the crater from the drill into a small pool. They forgot, however, that she was trapped under the ocean for several months.
Their final attempt involves giving her the tape recorder that Peridot had been using all this time. This earnest gesture being rejected as well, Peridot pleads to simply know what it will take to get her to stop seeing her as she was. Lapis responds by sending her away. Which she does. Steven takes the opportunity to point out that Lapis sent her away forever without having gotten to know her. But…
Homeworld sent a Searching Eye to deal with her. They hide in the barn, but there’s a gigantic hole in the side of it that hasn’t been patched up. After being chased outside again, and seeing Peridot cowering behind Steven at the thought of being taken back or worse, she uses the water in the pool to smack the Eye down. The others get there just in time to see the the pilot get out.
Final Thoughts:
- The fact that all Peridot knows about Lapis is that she likes water and flying is hilarious.
- I like the way Peridot doesn’t move her arms as she walks.
- Why would you ever create a foot soldier that only had one eye?
