Starfield Constellation Edition Comes With No Physical Disc

Starfield

What the hell is even the point of that?!

The other day saw many perplexed gamers. After all, a support representative for Bethesda basically said in a now-deleted tweet that all physical copies of the upcoming Starfield wouldn’t actually include a disc. At which point, you’d have to wonder why they bothered putting out physical boxes at all.

The reality, however, is even more boggling. A tweet from Bethesda Español clarified things, at least for the Spanish-speaking audience. Whether or not you get a physical disc is based on which edition you got. For example, the Standard Edition has a disc. Which makes sense, because that’s what you’re going to find in stores. However, the Constellation Edition (which is Starfield‘s collectors edition) doesn’t come with a disc; there’s a download code engraved on one of the collectibles.

Hello partners! It depends on the edition. For example, the standard has a disc, while the Constellation Edition has a code engraved on a collector’s item, which you can see in the image

The item in question being the one furthest left in the image.

It’s hard not to marvel at this, though. They’re selling what basically amounts to a bunch of feelies for $300, and not providing a hard copy of the game. There’s a steelbook in this package that presumably has NO FUCKING DISC in it. What is the point of that?! It’s described as a display case, so what does it hold? Does it come with something else in it? The site sure doesn’t say.

Anyway, I guess you can go buy a second copy of Starfield to stick in the steelbook you got, or something. It just works.
