Farming together.
Remember that official multiplayer update for Stardew Valley? Well, it’s here… technically. The multiplayer function is now in open beta, so you can try it out right now. Sadly, though, you can only do so on Steam right now.
Currently the beta is only available to Steam users. GOG users will gain access in a few days.
To enable the beta in Steam, right click the game in your library and select properties. On the window that pops up there will be a ‘betas’ tab. In the text box, type the password for the branch: jumpingjunimos. Then click the ‘Check Code’ button.
If you’ve done that correctly, you will now be able to select the ‘beta’ option from the drop down box.
Once you’ve done that, Steam will start downloading the update.
The update lets you farm with up to four friends. And each can change their personal difficulty, deciding how to split up rewards and so on. You can even get married to each other! Aside from the various multiplayer functions, the game also has some new single player content. Horses can wear hats, a new Winter Market will show up, and even some hidden Winter items are now scattered around.
It’ll probably be a while until GOG/console players can enjoy the update as well. But until then, get to farming!
