The StarCraft II War Chest has finally been unveiled

Because Blizzard –and the rest of the world– seems to be in love with fracking loot chests!

First announced all the way back at BlizzCon 2016, the StarCraft II War Chest was formally unveiled at WCS Valencia over the past weekend, and it goes live on July 19.

The War Chest is a seasonal program that offers StarCraft II players access to an array of cool digital content, including a comic, a full set of skins for each race and additional decals, sprays, and chat emoticons. After purchasing access to the War Chest for their selected race, players unlock content by playing online multiplayer or co-op games.

25% of each War Chest purchase goes toward supporting StarCraft II esports, with the first $200,000 of this season’s War Chest boosting the prize pool for the WCS Global Finals at BlizzCon 2017.

The War Chest will introduce more than 70 new items (spread across three phases), including sprays, emoticons, exclusive portraits, and StarCraft II’s first army-wide skins, all for a steeply discounted price.

Each War Chest begins with a single unit skin and an exclusive portrait. Additional skins are divided into three phases, and can be unlocked by playing Multiplayer or Co-op matches during or after the corresponding phase, until by the end of the challenge you have a full set. Your initial purchase also grants awesome rewards in other Blizzard titles.
