Star Wars: Jedi Academy Has Crossplay; PC Players Hassling Console Players

Star Wars: Jedi Academy

Oh, so you can’t turn fast enough? Too bad!

Star Wars: Jedi Academy is about as close to a perfect sequel as you can get. Everything that was great about its predecessor, is just as great here. And that’s what has kept players coming back to it for the nearly 20 years since it was originally released.

Recently, Jedi Academy got ported to the Switch, allowing those that remember it fondly a new chance to re-experience it, alongside those that missed out. And it even has its much-vaunted multiplayer. There’s just one problem:

PC players figured out how to invade the new console port’s multiplayer servers. Per PC Gamer:

It also does these things perhaps too well, including apparently accidental crossplay between PC and console, because by direct-connecting to the IP of the unlisted console multiplayer servers PC players are able to join those games. Some of those players just want to hang out with new blood in an old game. Others are fighting as unfairly as they can.

In essence:

20 years of experience
+ the original, intended control scheme

Bad time for console players

Needless to say, console players aren’t exactly happy. They pretty much demanded that the console servers be hidden from PC players. For their part, Aspyr has stated that they’re working on the issue. But, boy, while Movie Battles is a thing in the PC version, I’m not sure it covers that part where Anakin slaughters younglings in the Jedi Temple.
