Square Enix To Replace Japanese VA For Olaf In Kingdom Hearts III Via Patch

Kingdom Hearts III

I mean, it’s telling that he was a snow-man.

On Thursday, Square Enix announce that they would replace the voice actor to Frozen‘s Olaf in Kingdom Hearts III via a patch. This is due to the fact that said actor and Denki Groove member, Pierre Taki (born Masanori Taki) was arrested for cocaine possession and use.

The Narcotics Control Department of Japan’s Health, Labor and Welfare Ministry arrested Taki on Tuesday. he tested positive for cocaine in his urine test conducted that night. In addition, they confiscated his cell phone, an are investigating where and when he used it. They also confiscated a rolled up South Korean Won bill he was using as a straw. The Narcotics Control Department apparently had him under investigation since last Fall.

But it doesn’t end at Kingdom Hearts III. Drug offenses in Japan are super serious; you’re going to watch this man’s life unravel in real-time. For example, Disney Japan is also considering replacing him as Olaf in the upcoming Frozen II; and they probably will. Especially as Disney plans on a simultaneous U.S./Japan release for the film.

On Wednesday, Sega announced that they would temporarily cease sales of their game Judgement. Said game features Taki playing a character in his own likeness. They’re likely trying to figure out whether it’s feasible to patch him out or not. The game released last December in Japan, with a planned worldwide release set this June.

He was also playing roles in several television shows, as well as a radio drama, all of which are considering the appropriate response to his arrest. He was also the narrator on BS11’s Sekai no Kokkyō o Aruitemitara, which has already announced plans to replace him. Furthermore, Taki’s variety show on Shizuoka Asahi TV, Pierre Taki no Shonnai TV, has been canceled. Finally, Denki Groove’s planned show at Zepp Tokyo has also been canceled.

Remember, kids; it’s like Captain Lou Albano told us way back when:
