How many times do we have to teach you this lesson, old man?!
Square Enix has something of a history of underestimating the demand for some of their games. Take Bravely Default and its sequel, for example. They were actually surprised that the former outsold whatever Final Fantasy XIII game was out at the time. And so it’s practically a given that they’d underestimate the demand for Octopath Traveler by the same team.
But in this case, that underestimation hampered customer’s ability to actually buy the game in its physical release. Or, at least, it did in Japan, as it happened to be released during a holiday weekend. And so, they released an apology on the Octopath Traveler official Twitter account:
3連休で一部品切れのお店が出ているようで申し訳ございません!
