Sony Pictures continues its oversaturation push of everything Spider-Man by landing a director for their upcoming spin-off movie Silver & Black. I’m not sure how all this will work with a still high school aged Peter Parker, but Sony hasn’t really cared all that much about Spider-Man in a very long time.
Silver & Black will tell the story Spider-Man supporting characters Black Cat (Felicia Hardy) and Silver Sable (Silver Sablinova). I will grant Sony some props for thinking outside the box by giving Silver Sable a big push. She is a character that most casual comic fans don’t know. Heck, I’d go as far as saying many Spider-Man fans don’t have any idea who she is.
Gina Prince-Bythewood has been tapped to direct the project. She comes with a Marvel credit already to her name as she directed the pilot for Marvel’s upcoming show Cloak & Dagger over on the Freeform network, whatever that is. She also rectently just completed work on the first season of the cop drama Shots Fired over on Fox.
Prince-Bythewood’s first task is to work on a script rewrite as the project, along with every Spider-Man spin-off, has been in development for some time. The original script was penned by Christopher Yost who wrote Marvel’s Thor: The Dark World.
