Sphero brings BB-8 Droid to life

Star Wars The Force Awakens is coming, and it’s going to be huge on the scale most people who only lived through the original trilogy will be able to comprehend. But what is also going to be huge is the want/need/desire to get our hands on the toys based on the film.

Sure, Star Wars toys have been a staple of the series, –it’s how Mr. Lucas made all his billions and gazillions of Imperial credits– but this is 2015, and with that comes some amazing technology that makes for some incredible toys.

I was at San Diego Comic-Con this year and got to see a number of the upcoming toys, and even got some hands on with the new Stormtrooper, but today’s announcement of the BB-8 droid makes gets me excited like a kid on Christmas.

While BB-8 has only seen a few seconds of screentime, the droid is already a fan favorite. Sphero was tasked with not only creating a toy of this lovable droid, but creating one that is fully operational!

You’ll be able to have your very own BB-8 companion as he makes his way all over your house, and into your heart. BB-8 lists for the estimated retail price of $150 and can be controlled via an iOS app (android coming soon we imagine).
