No, this isn’t a mistake in category (I make enough of those as it is), this piece of Zelda news does in fact belong the television section. According to reports from the Wall Street Journal, Netflix and Nintendo are working on putting together a live-action version of the Legend of Zelda.
The Wall Street Journal is citing that “a person familiar with the matter,” for Netflix has described this possible television show as a sort of “Game of Thrones for a family audience.” We have no idea what this means as a Game of Thrones is the farthest thing from family friendly.
Most likely they are planning a large and epic world with incredible detail. One hopes that they keep the light-hearted feel of the Zelda series while still offering something fresh. Of course, this is all just hearsay at the moment, but I wouldn’t put it past Netflix to secure a big licence like this to build up their original content portfolio. Besides, Netflix could use more family friendly programming to help branch out.
IGN has made a request for more information, but Netflix has refused to comment on the WSJ article.
We will keep you posted as more information becomes available.
