Soulja Boy Claims To Own Atari; Atari Responds By Saying He Doesn’t

Soulja Boy

He also claims to have sold his game company.

So, Soulja Boy has put some effort into getting into the games market. That effort mostly being Chinese bootleg systems loaded with illegally obtained ROMs. For a refresher, see here, here, or the following video:

Well, with that in the rear view mirror, there’s only one way to go: up. By which I mean, purchasing Atari, which is totally a still-valuable brand that wasn’t run into the ground by a bunch of French guys, and did not just release a flop of a console.

Yes, that’s right; Soulja Boy spent around 2 days claiming that he had sold his gaming company (which… never actually produced anything) for $140 million, and bought Atari.

Which would be great okay interesting a thing, except for the fact that he did not, in fact, buy Atari. As they so helpfully pointed out on Twitter.

Well, I wouldn’t go as far as to say it’s a “dream job”. We’re talking about a company whose biggest boost in recent years was having their logo in a Blade Runner sequel for the sake of continuity (and also whatever Rollercoaster Tycoon game is most recent). Honestly this whole thing looks more like a stronger hobo fighting a weaker, drunk/high hobo in an abandoned parking lot over a bottle of Night Train. Which is funny to picture, yeah, but the reality is actually fairly depressing.
