Sony’s Play At Home Initiative

Get Journey And Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection for free.

Sony’s doing their part to flatten the curve. And part of that is keeping you entertained. That’s why they’re giving everyone, regardless of account type, 2 games to keep for absolutely free.

As a thank you to all who are doing their part to lessen the impact of this pandemic, Sony Interactive Entertainment is pleased to announce the Play At Home initiative.

Play At Home has two components: first, providing free games to help keep the PlayStation community entertained at home; and finally, establishing a fund to help smaller independent game studios who may be experiencing financial difficulties continue building great experiences for all gamers.

Starting today, April 15th, all users can add the acclaimed Journey as well as Naughty Dog’s Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection to their digital library for free. Though, in accordance with the attempt to preserve internet access, they do admit the downloads will take a little longer. You don’t have forever to pick them up, though; the deal only lasts through May 5th.

Of course, that’s just half of the initiative; the other is to help fund the support of indie developers during the pandemic.

Independent developers are vital to the heart and soul of the gaming community and we understand the hardships and financial struggles that many smaller gaming studios are facing. With that, SIE has developed a fund to support them during this time. We have earmarked $10 million to support our independent development partners. More information about the fund, including participation criteria, will be made available soon.

Do note, however, that if you live in Germany or China’ you won’t be getting Uncharted; rather, you’ll be getting the absolute knacksterpiece known as Knack II, baby!
