The animation arm of Sony pictures also is crossing streams to bring us a new Ghostbusters cartoon television show in the form of Ghostbusters: Ecto Force. Kristine Belson, President of Sony Pictures Animation said on the move that:
“We are meaningfully stepping up our level of production, while creating an environment that fosters the best talent. Our goal is to enlarge our presence in the animation landscape with a uniquely diverse slate, and our strategy to get there is to let artists drive the movies creatively.”
Ghostbusters: Ecto Force, will look to expand the Ghostbusters cinematic universe by bringing the well-known series back to the small screen. The studio looks to focus on a new generation of Ghostbusters in the far future year of 2050. Not sure what’s wrong with the modern age, or the new female cast, but whatever.
This new Ghostbusters for is an international force that will travel the world with the help of local teams in the areas they visit. This new series is being helmed by Ivan Reitman and his production company Ghost Corps, so it has some direct connection to the original team behind the films. Ghostbusters: Ecto Force is shooting for an early 2018 debut.
