On the Board of Directors.
You read that right. The famous rapper, actor, and friend of Martha Stewart, Snoop Dogg, is now a part of FaZe Clan.
FaZe Snoop, as he’s dubbed when doing anything associated with the group, is joining the Board of Directors once the company goes public this year, and will also be involved in creating content, “participate in key business initiatives, and launch merchandise with the brand”.
The organic relationship between Faze and Snoop has been building for years now, so we are thrilled to officially welcome Faze Snoop to the family. As the original internet kid and first generation gamer, Snoop has always understood the cultural connection between music, lifestyle and gaming. Today, Snoop is a prominent voice in the emerging Web3 community and we have exciting plans to create together in the metaverse, driving new engagement opportunities for both of our fanbases.

This is far from the first move in the gaming space that Snoop’s made, though. He made quite the impression on Terry Crews at Battlefield 1‘s launch stream, and has also built his own eSports team, in addition to streaming on Twitch.
It still might seem odd that he joined FaZe Clan, though. Until you find out that his son suggested it.
The youth identifies with their brand and that’s something my son Cordell knew, which is why he brought us together.

As his son Cordell Broadus said:
As I’ve been watching what FaZe Clan has been building in the gaming space, I knew there was a natural connection with what my dad has been doing. When I look at the two brands, I was inspired by the synergy they could create so I brought them together in this partnership. I can’t wait for the world to see what we are about to do.

Snoop’s not the first non-pro-gamer to be a part of FaZe’s roster, though. Others include NFL player Kyler “FaZe K1” Murray, Lebron “FaZe Bronny” James Jr., Lil Yachty aka “FaZe Boat,” and Offset aka “FaZe Offset”. And all of them operate in a similar promotional and community-related capacity.
On the other hand, FaZe Clan is no stranger to controversy. Former member Tfue sued them over “oppressive, onerous, and one-sided” contracts. There was also the FaZe Jarvis Fortnite drama. Oh, and we mustn’t forget the massive cryptocurrency scam that several FaZe members were involved in.
Regardless, FaZe Clan announced an SPAC plan to go public late last year, with the deal valuing the company at $1 billion. A number which further dispels any mysteries as to why any number of celebrities might want to get involved with them, much like Snoop Dogg.
