Eurogamer Confirms The ‘PS4 Slim’ Leak Is The Real Deal With Video

We didn’t cover the release of a number of purported images of the new PS4 Slim that hit the internet over the weekend here on the site, but we did post them to our Facebook page (fb.com/gambitmagazine). Not a lot of news came along with the images, but it’s now looking more and more as if this leak could be the real deal. Sure, the thing is a lot more rounder and looks a lot cheaper, but I’m a fan of cheaper consoles, so it’s all good.

PS4 Slim

So many people shouted “Fake!” or “Photoshop!” when the images hit, and as we aren’t pixel detectives over here, we couldn’t really say otherwise. But gaming website Eurogamer decided to pay a visit to the person who purchased the PS4 Slim from a Gumtree (essentially the Craigslist of the UK) listing. Something about the whole thing still ‘feels’ sort of off, especially with being able to by the unit online. If anything, this PS4 Slim is clearly stolen property as it hasn’t even been announced.

Eurogamer not only checked out the new PS4 Slim, but posted a video of the console booting up which was taken down shortly after posting. They removed the video upon legal advice, so this does lead us to believe that this is in fact the new PS4 Slim model (we are linking a mirror above because Eurogamer shouldn’t bow for doing good journalistic work). The outlet made an update to their original article stating that the have confirmed that this is in fact the new Slim model. That being said, it looks like we are going to have to wait until Sony’s September 7th event before we find out if this ‘unique’ looking PS4 is the real deal.
