Seth MacFarlane’s The Orville Official Trailer

I’m not much of a Seth MacFarlane fan. I am, however a bit of a mark for Star Trek parodies. So I went into the trailer for The Orville with some optimism.

The series, from Seth MacFarlane and Jon Favreau, stars MacFarlane as Ed Mercer, whose desire to Captain a Planetary Union Starship is finally met, despite his spotty track record. With a misfit crew and a less than top of the line ship, it seems in line to be a spiritual successor to the Galaxy Quest series we’ll never get.

The Orville is set to premiere in the 2017-2018 season. And, considering MacFarlane is a huge Star Trek fan, I don’t think he’s just going to let this fail.
