It’s a good reason.
As excited as everyone may be about the Mega Drive Mini, it seems we’ll have to wait a bit longer. Sega has announced, via Twitter, that they’ve delayed the console’s release until 2019. It was previously announced to release in 2018 in Japan.

That said, the reason for the delay is a good thing. Primarily, it’s giving Sega a chance to do something with the little console that Sega rarely seems to get totally right: Quality Assurance. I kid, I kid. The delay is giving them the opportunity to make sure the deice is of the highest quality possible. But the delay also means one other thing: Sega has confirmed that they’ll be bringing the mini to Europe and the U.S. (the latter under the original Genesis branding) as well.
Still, the waiting is the hardest part. And we still don’t know what comes pre-loaded on the little guy. But the opportunity to relive the past is all worth it.
