Season 2 of True Detective will have three leads

It’s hard to remember the last time a show completely took over the Internet the way True Detective did. Sure, Breaking Bad, but from day one True Detective had us hooked. Since the end of the first season, rumors have abounded about the direction of the second season. Jessica Chastain and Brad Pitt were both said to be circling roles, but joke’s on all of us, cause they haven’t even started casting yet.

Creator Nic Pizzolatto was on the podcast To the Best of Our Knowledge, and revealed a little bit about where the show will go. The most interesting new information is that there will be three leads this time.

From To The Best of Our Knowledge:

Right now, we’re working with three leads. It takes place in California. Not Los Angeles, but some of the lesser known venues of California and we’re going to try to capture a certain psychosphere ambience of the place, much like we did with season one. The characters are all new, but I am deeply in love with all of them. We have the entire season broken out, and I have a couple of scripts, and we’ll probably start casting within the coming month.

“Psychosphere ambience”? Holy shit, this guy talks exactly like Rust Cohle. Hey Nic, if you’re looking for somewhere unexpected to shoot in California, might I suggest beautiful downtown Strathmore?
