The cash must flow.
Across the country, Target stores were unable to complete transactions through their registers due to a “system issue”. The problem lasted for several hours, before Target declared the problem solved.
Reportedly, the registers at three Georgia stores went down around 2:15 pm eastern, with many others across the country to follow. Customers reported hour long waits, with many abandoning their purchases to go to other stores. Some locations started handing out free refreshments to afflicted customers. Many stores resorted to alternative checkout methods, using phones to calculate purchases. According to one Richmond customer, these methods could take between 15 to 20 minutes per transaction.
Per Target spokeswoman Danielle Schumann, the issue was resolved, and was determined not to be a data breach after an “initial but thorough review”. Which thankfully means that no one needs to deal with the possibility of having their Taret-related data out there.
