Well, one of them, at least.

At Monday’s CES conference, Samsung showed off three new robots intended for home use. And one in particular, the JetBot AI Plus (a security camera/vacuum robot), may well be on the market this year.

Samsung’s conference was less about highlighting upcoming products, though, and more about the bigger picture. Namely the addition of AI to all of their products (or at least those with the capacity for it).

Our world looks different, and many of you have been faced with a new reality — one where, among other things, your home has taken on a greater significance. Our innovations are designed to provide more personal and more intuitive experiences that express your personality. We’re hard at work to bring you next-generation innovation, with AI as the core enabler, for your better tomorrow.

Sebastian Seung, head of Samsung Research

The first to hit the market, the JetBot AI Plus, looks little different than the usual robot vacuums you currently see for sale. But it’s what’s under the hood, so to speak, that is the difference. It has object recognition to chart paths through your home, Lidar and 3D sensors to help it avoid cables and small objects, and can even have no-go zones set via its mobile app. What’s more, it empties its own bin at its charging station. It even has a camera to allow it to operate as a home monitoring device when paired up with Samsung’s SmartThings app.

When the robot stops somewhere, you can use your mobile device and get a live stream of what it’s seeing. Maybe not today when we’re working from home and at home so often, but think about when you go on vacation, even business meetings. Now you can have a robot at home, that’s actually your sentry.

As for the other two, the BotCare uses AI to respond to your behavior and operate as a personal assistant. It will learn your schedule, and can even ask you questions or remind you of things.

The BotHandy, on the other hand, features manual utility. It uses AI to judge the proper amount of force to pick up objects of all sorts of sizes, shapes and weights. It can also recognize materials and judge the riht amount of grip strength to pick objects up without damaging them, but still hold them firmly. It can also perform certain cleaning duties, like picking up a messy room, or sorting dishes (even loading the dishwasher), and even pour you a glass of wine.

Both robots seem designed to be as personable as possible. While the BotCare wouldn’t look out of place in the background of Wall-E or a Star Wars movie, the BotHandy actually has something of a face to it, to go along with that long arm.

While the JetBot AI Plus will be on sale in the first haf of the year, the other two have no current release date.
