This thing is insane!
This Friday, Samsung unveiled their CHG 90 49-inch ultra widescreen gaming monitor. This thing is bananas. It’s technically larger than most televisions. Hell, it’s wider than pretty much anything on the market. And that 49-inches? That’s the width of the screen, not the typical diagonal measurement for televisions and monitors.
It’s literally meant to replace a two-monitor setup. With a 32:9 aspect ratio and a 3,840 x 1,080 resolution, it’s basically two normal widescreen monitors put together. According to Samsung’s press release, “gamers no longer need to worry about the logistics, expenses, and bezel interference that occur when combining multiple smaller monitors together for an expanded view.” Definitely.
All that screen will cost you a pretty penny, though: the CHG 90 will cost $1,499. Still, setting up two monitors of comparable quality might cost you as much, if not more, and it won’t look as pretty with the bezels. If you’re looking for pre-orders, Amazon‘s your spot, with Newegg and Samsung.com for its 31.5- and 27-inch little brothers, respectively.
