Rumors: Pokémon on Switch Might Focus on Kanto Generation, Like GO

Pokémon

Does… does anyone still play Pokémon GO?

Rumors have been swirling about the Switch’s first actual Pokémon game. And things seem to possibly be pointing towards some kind of connectivity with Pokémon GO.

First and foremost, the names have been confirmed: Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu and Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee. These were outed last week when a French Pokémon fan site noticed that domain names had been registered. Those, in turn, confirmed an earlier 4Chan leak with the names.

The same 4Channer that tipped everyone off to the names recently posted some new info to the imageboard. And while usually you’d take these things with a grain of salt (and probably still should to a degree) the guy has some considerable credibility thanks to the previous leak.

I’ll bullet point that if you don’t want to click on the images:

  • Like Go’s first release, only Kanto Pokémon will be available in Let’s GO.
  • Yellow Remakes for Switch
  • Two versions, Pikachu and Eevee
  • Red and Blue play a role in the story, you and your rival are new trainers
  • Following Pokémon return
  • HM’s still replaced with Pokéride from Alola
  • Online has a hub for players
  • PokémonGo integration
  • Catching Pokémon works like in Go
  • Rewards in game and in Go for linking the two together
  • New accessory can be used with both Go and the games
  • Announcement soon, releasing this year

The same user also went on to elaborate on these in a later thread:

Pokémon

While some of that may seem a bit Farfetch’d,  that doesn’t necessarily make it wrong.  That said, it’s hard to imagine something of a full fledged Pokémon game with gameplay like Pokémon GO. That all said, Emily Rogers has stated that there will be an announcement soon, before the end of the month. So I guess we just need to sit tight.
