It’s sad to say, but Roger Moore has passed away at age 89.

The notable Bond actor, known for his more urbane and comedic take on the character, passed away today in Switzerland after a short battle with cancer.

Moore had a long career outside of bond, though. His television roles included Simon Templar on The Saint, Lord Brett Sinclair on The Persuaders!, and the titular character on Maverick. His film career was nothing to snuff at either, though few films matched the exposure of his tenure as Bond.

He is survived by his wife, Kristina Tholstrup, his daughter, actress Deborah Moore; and his sons, actor Geoffrey Moore, and Christian Moore, a film producer.
