Robert Downey Jr. made some news last month when he spoke with USA Today telling the newspaper that another Iron Man film with him as the lead just, “isn’t in the cards.”
RDJ holds a special place in the heats of superhero fans, and no doubt Marvel, for kicking off phase 1 of the Marvel cinematic universe with the original Iron Man.
But it seems that leading up to the release of Captain America: Civil War the actor is changing his tune. Speaking with ABC’s Nightline, RDJ said that him taking another stab at the iron avenger may be a possibility stating, “I feel like I could do one more,” he said.”
The original Iron Man is still a lovely film, and the strongest of the series, so wanting to send off the character in glorious fashion would seem like the right move for the actor. Also, the three-film series has grossed $2.4 billion worldwide, so RDJ is still a very bankable lead for Marvel/Disney.
In the meantime Robert Downey Jr will co-star in Captain America: Civil War which opens in theaters on May 6.
