Retro-bit announces the’Go Retro Portable’ a Game Boy inspired portable console featuring over 300 games for under $35

Retro-bit and INNEX continue their retro push with the announcement of a new portable console, Go Retro Portable. We’ve saw a number of these Game Boy inspired devices in 2017, but with the console history that Retro-bit has, the Go Retro Portable comes with some distinct advantages.

You’ll be able to play over 300 games from any time and anywhere with the Go Retro Portable. Included on the device is a library of 8-bit classics from Capcom, Data East, Jaleco, and Irem including, Mega Man 2, Mighty Final Fight, Astynax, Joe and Mac, Bad Dudes, Strider and more!

Much like their last console, the Super Retrocade (we have one here in the office) the big advantage of the Go Retro Portable are the officially licensed titles from Capcom, Data East, Jaleco, Irem. But because of amount of games included they are offering other Retro inspired games. This usually means shoddily programed flash games, but don’t quote me on that.

But the coolest thing about the Go Retro Portable is the price: $34.99

Look, that’s a price that simply too good to be true with regards to a portable handheld, but that’s the price they gave us. Fingers crossed the console dosen’t feel like cheap plastic, but only time will tell. You have to remember that Retro-bit sells individual retro games for a higher price than this entire console.

Some of the specs they gave us include: Scratch resistant screen, Internal rechargeable battery: 7-10 hours of play on full charge, 3.5 MM headphone jack, and, of course, an LCD color monitor. The Go Retro Portable should hit shelves in September of 2018.
