Resident Evil 2 Remake Premium Edition Comes With Typewriter Keyboard

Resident Evil 2

First day on the job: city infested with zombies. Can still flex more than Chris.

The Resident Evil 2 remake is happening, and in Japan, the premium edition truly is special. Because it comes with a typewriter… sort of.

For the equivalent of about $900, you can buy the premium edition complete with a number of goodies. And the Lexington Typewriter USB Keyboard is the jewel of the lot. It comes with a charging cable, is Bluetooth enabled, has a battery life of up to 7 days, and is compatible with Windows, MacOS, iOS and Android devices. Sadly, it can’t be used  with the Xbox One or PS4 versions of the game.

The premium edition is up on Capcom JP’s website, and also includes the following in addition to the typewriter:

  • A statue of Leon “Once Murdered His Way Across Part Of Spain” Kennedy
  • 4 “ink ribbons” (actually just masking tape in a special wrapper)
  • A Raccoon Police Station Poster
  • An Official Artbook
  • A Soundtrack CD
  • A DLC voucher
  • A copy of the game
  • A chest into which it’s all packed

Granted, they have other, less expensive options available. For ¥82,800, you can get the Limited Edition (Game, ink Ribbon, Typewriter); for ¥24,800, you can buy the Collector’s Edition (everything from the Premium Edition, sans typewriter); for ¥7,800, you an just get the game and an ink ribbon; or for ¥75,000, you can just buy the Typewriter keyboard itself. Regardless, it seems the typewriter itself is the big ticket item in all of this.

Sadly, the US doesn’t seem to be getting the typewriter at all. PlayStation Lifestyle lists out the Collector’s Edition for about $200. Only it doesn’t have the “ink ribbons”.
