Razer’s New Kiyo Webcam has a Built in Ring Light

Now they’ll be able to see your ugly mug better.

Just ahead of TwitchCon, Razer showed off two new peripherals. One was the Seirēn X Microphone, which just so happens to share a name with a mid-grade romantic comedy anime only weebs care about. That’s what I get for not being specific and also being lazy. The other is the Kiyo webcam, and that one sports a seriously cool design feature.

The Kiyo has a built in ring light. Which might not sound that cool, but consider this: most streamers don’t have much room for lighting with all that hardware in the way. And unless you like having your videos lit like Chris-Chan’s infamous Captain’s Logs, lighting is a necessary part of even minor video production. The Kiyo, thankfully, offers adjustable illumination by way of rotating the outer edge, giving you 12 different levels of light.

Not to mention the fact that it folds down flat, allowing you to take it on the go. It’s likely already shot its way up to being the gold standard just by virtue of the light. It can also shoot video in 1920 x 1080 at 30 frames per second or 1280 x 720 at 60 frames per second. So it’s really neat.

Not to be outdone, the Seirēn X offers a number benefits over other microphones, not the least being its compact form factor. It also comes with a built in shock mount. It also has a super cardiod pickup pattern which makes it very good at isolating the broadcaster against all other noise in the room. So, it’s nothing to sneeze at.

Both the Kiyo webcam and the Seirēn X microphone are available for order right now on razerzone.com. And both are relatively affordable as these things go, each retailing for $99.99. If you’re into streaming, that’s a hard deal to pass up.
