Razer partners with Ignition Design Labs on Gaming Grade home WiFi

Razer continues to expand its gaming empire by announcing a partnership with Ignition Design Labs, creators of the award-winning Portal Wi-Fi router. The companies join forces to optimize features and performance of the Portal router specifically for gaming.

Razer saw device connectivity as a major area needing improvement. A sub-par router is often the cause of lag, screen tearing and buffering, three issues that commonly plague gamers, including us here at the office. Mesh-capable Portal Wi-Fi routers help prevent these glitches. Portal addresses the demands of high bandwidth gaming and streaming applications.

Chances are that most of you out there are running the router that your cable company installed when you signed up for service. For the most part, this will be fine for some video streaming and lite gaming, but these devices are designed as one-size-fits-all sorts of things.

The Portal claims to be designed for gamers which comes with a higher set of standards, especially if you are someone that stream online, or is looking to be competitive in multiplayer. We have yet to test out the device compared to our standard router, but the product details below sure sound nice.
