R-Type Final 2 Kickstarter looks to revive the series

Shmup gamers take note: a Kickstarter has launched to revive R-Type for a new age. Granzella Inc. is looking to bring R-Type Final 2 to gamers through the campaign.

The series has not seen a new entry since 2003, with R-Type Final. This new campaign is sitting at just over $150,000 of their $416,152 goal.

The studio doesn’t have a lot of games under their belt, but was formed form IREM staffers. They are mostly known for making content for the long shutdown PlayStation Home service/MMO experiment.

Still, if any studio of going to bring back R-Type, one formed from the ashes of the studio that birthed the series makes a lot of sense. It’s not like were getting another PlayStation Home anytime soon.
